• Chemical formula:
Chemical formula can be described as representation of Chemical composition of compounds. In other words it is the notation to represent a compound (either ionic or molecular compound) in which numerical subscripts are there along with atomic symbols, subscripts indicate relative number of atoms of different element in a compound.
• Ionic compound:
Ionic compound composed of cation which is positively charged (+charge) and an anion which is negatively charged (-charge).
Ionic compound are electrically neutral.
Ionic compound composed of
1) A metal and a non metal eg. AlCl3
2) A metal and a polyatomic anion eg. Mg(NO3)2
3) A polyatomic cation and a non metal eg. NH4Br
4) A polyatomic cation and a polyatomic anion eg NH4NO3
