Adelina’s level of sadness and depression increased following the winter break where she went home to see her family. Upon her return, she stopped leaving her room, had difficulties attending classes and completing assignments. Therefore, her grades started falling, and she was placed on academic probation. Adelina is required to engage in counseling services as part of the academic probation. Adelina reports that at first, she was excited to be away from her family and starting this new chapter in her life; however, she never thought it was going to be this difficult. Adelina reports feeling isolated from those she loves and unsure of what the future holds for her. When first thinking about a college, she wanted to become a Teacher, but upon admission had decided to make a change and enroll in social science with a desire to work towards social work. She notes that she is not even sure about that now, Adelina feels lost without her home base for support and things she once felt she knew she no longer feels sure about. Adelina is unsure of what direction she wants to take in her life and scared of making the wrong decisions about her future.
