of full swings the pendulum made in 230 seconds for various lengths of
string. Her data are shown below.
Length (in) (x-axis)
Number of Swings (y-axis) 22
a) Explain why a linear model is not appropriate for using the length of a
pendulum to predict the number of Swings in 20 seconds.
6.5 9 11.5 14.5 18 21 24 27 30 35.37
20 17 16 14 13 13 12 11 10
b) Re-express the data to straighten the scatterplot.
c) Create an appropriate model.
d) Estimate the number of swings for a pendulum with a 4-inch string.
e) Estimate the number of swings for a pendulum with a 48-inch string.
f) How many confidences do you place in these predictions? Why?
Please use RStudio to solve. It appears that someone solved this problem using another software. I
was able to follow them until I got to B, then I started to have different number and scatterplot.
