The stimuli which are responsible for the pain perception are mechanical(pinch, pressure), heat and chemical. The receptors of pain are the nerve endings present in the area of skin (cutaneous receptors) which perceive the stimuli. The receptors present in the organs like the muscles, joints, bladder and visceral organs are called as internal receptors.
The nociceptors are also called as pain receptors which are responsible for the pain sensation. The sensation of the pain is due to the sensory ending that are stimulated by the pain sensation.
