Name three explanations for declining crime rates in the United States.
Criminality or 'wrong' behavioral pattern of criminals was initially located as being embedded in the physical and psychological set up of the individual who chooses to deviate from the accepted social norms. However, sociologists have often put forward the idea that no act is inherently deviant in nature. Like all other social actions crime or deviance is viewed as socially constructed thereby necessitating identification of the socio-cultural context which gives birth to criminal behavior. In an attempt to do so, it also becomes important to investigate the reason certain behavior come to be regarded as crime and certain groups of person come to be labeled as criminals.
