Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed teachers, and fellow students,
I'm here today to shed some light on an important issue that needs all of our attention. I'm here to push for a review of our driving standards. One idea I have is that all drivers should have to take their test again every three years. This may sound like a lot of work, but I promise you it's a step in the right direction as we keep trying to make the roads safer.
First, let's look at things from a world point of view. A little over 1.35 million people die every year in car accidents, according to the World Health Organization. That's almost 3,700 deaths every day! By requiring regular driver's tests, we can make sure that drivers around the world stay alert, up-to-date, and skilled, which will lower these shocking numbers.
Not as much fun to drive as it used to be. The rules are always changing, the roads are busy, and the cars are smarter. A lot of hybrid cars are being sold in areas like Tokyo and San Francisco. At the same time, electric car hubs are opening up in places like Oslo. Since technology is changing so quickly, it makes sense to make sure that all drivers know about the newest car technology.
