You would sum up the sales for each quarter across all areas to get the total for each column. The sum of the sales for the Northeast, South, Midwest, and West areas, for instance, would be the entire sales for the first quarter.
You would sum up the sales for each quarter for a certain region to get the total for each row. The sum of the Northeast region's sales for each quarter, for instance, would represent the region's overall sales.
The totals for each row would be added together in the final column.
The sales data would be visually represented as a clustered column chart, with each column indicating a quarter and each area represented by a distinct color. Each column's height would reflect the region's and quarter's total sales. You may simply compare sales between areas and quarters using the graphic.
