Robert K Merton is one of the well known American sociologist of all time. He is known as the father of modern sociology and has a major contribution in the field of criminology. He gave numerous concepts which are applicable even in today's time like his theory of reference group, role strain, self fulfilling- defeating prophecy and others. He gave the famous CUDOS framework and the norms of it are Communism, Universalism, Disinterestedness and Organized Skepticism. His theory of anomie is well known and is broadly explained by Merton.
