read Chapter One in the book Conflict between Persons by Arnett, I began to reflect on the concept of Communication Ethics and the role it plays in leadership (pg. 17). The article that I selected relates to the readings is The Role of Communication in Organizations: Ethical Considerations. The article points out some key ideas and models that managers and leaders can use to help communication in ethical dilemmas. As Arnett references, "Leadership begins with the study and practice of communication ethics understood as background that carries a sense of given good that we want to protect and promote." As I tie the two readings together, I notice an overlay of what managers may face from an ethical standpoint. As managers try to decide what is best for their company, team, and business, they also need help with their moral beliefs.
