There is no way to get a 100% yield of the desired copper is any chemical reaction or preparation. Following are the reasons:

  • The product is separated from the reaction mixture distillation, filtrations, crystallization. A small number of droplets or solids left behind in the filtration unit or in the distillation unit.
  • The reaction might not get completed 100%, because it is a reversible reaction and equilibrium has achieved.
  • The original reactants are not pure, which may have some impurity, so the obtained product will have copper as well as that impurity in some other forms either with copper or in isolated form.
