The following question relates to the era of Civil War in America which was fought from 1861 to 1865 over the two main issues. These issues basically centered around the abolition of slavery and unification of South and North States. The states situated in the southern part were not willing to do away with slavery due to structure of their economy which was largely plantation based and on these plantations the slave labor was required. On the other hand northern states had an economy which rested on the industrial base.The armies who fought on the behalf of the northern states were known as Union army and the armies who fought on the behalf of the southern states were Confederate army. These armies fought a civil war from 1861 to 1865 and finally the armies of Union won in the end and Confederates had to surrender. The army of union was led by Abraham Lincoln and there were other commanders as well. The army of Confederates were led by Robert E. Lee ( R.E. Lee) and there were other commanders as well like Thomas J Jackson. Therefore, the answer to this question in option 3 R.E. Lee.
