The abolitionist movement was the social and political work to end slavery all over the place. Powered partially by strict enthusiasm, the development was driven by individuals like Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth and John Brown.
This movement was started by William Lloyd. It went under the authority of William Lloyd Garrison, a Boston writer and social reformer. From the mid 1830s until the finish of the Civil War in 1865, Garrison was the abolitionists' most devoted campaigner. His paper, the Liberator, was infamous.
