Is this a good example of the divine comand theory? What can be improved? The Divine Command Theory is the oldest theory in ethics as well as the most popular. The Divine Command Theory is based on the commands of god. It basically states that an action is deemed ethical if god were to preform it. And the more likely god would be to do something, the more ethical that act would be. There are weakness to this theory. There are strengths as well. A weakness would be that not everyone believes in god, meaning the theory could be seen as nonsense to others. Another issue is that in this region, it is believed that if you do not have faith you will not be saved, and you will be punished for eternity. This creates a problem because someone could live life extremely ethically, maybe more so than someone religious. But because they didn't have faith they will still be punished. This is something I've always struggled in understanding about religion.
