Convection and plate Motion
Convection currents are found in the hot molten mantle, through which energy is transferred. These currents drive the lithospheric plate motion. When the currents are rising, the plates are forced to move away such as sea floor spreeding and when the currents are converging and descending, the plates move towards each other. The activity together is known as plate tectonic.
