In cloud networking how does Virtual Extensible LAN protocol (VXLAN) technology work?
Introduction
VXLAN: An Internet standard protocol called Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network (VXLAN) offers a way to tunnel, or encapsulate, Ethernet (Layer 2) frames across an IP (Layer 3) network. As though they were all connected to a single Ethernet Layer 2 network, this enables applications and devices to communicate over a wide physical network.
In order effectively create a virtual physical network, commonly referred to as the "underlay," and enable connectivity to also be defined & controlled as a collection of virtual connections, commonly referred to as the "overlay," tunneling technologies like VXLAN provide a crucial tool. The actual underlay network is unaffected by the creation, modification, and removal of these virtual connections.
