A simply supported beam with a T-shaped section is being designed, as shown in the figure below. The beam has overall dimensions of 900 mm wide top flange, 750 mm deep, and a web thickness of 400mm and flange thickness of 150 mm. A total of 7-HD25 longitudinal reinforcing bars are located in the bottom of the beam, 4-HD25 bars at the top, and 8 - HD16 in the flange. The concrete strength is f'c = 30 MPa. The depth to the centre of the bar group at the bottom of the beam is 675mm.
