Expert Solution

Step 1 - Introduction
1H NMR spectroscopy is the branch of NMR spectroscopy used to determine the structure of a molecule by anlyzing different types of Hydrogens present in a molecule. 1H NMR helps to determine the structure of a given compound. Unknown compounds are also identified by using this technique. Their chemical shift values and no. of signals are compared with reference to confirm their identity.
The chemical shift value for a proton (1H) are defined with respect to a reference standard i.e. TMS (Tetra methylsilane) i.e. how far is the signal w.r.t to TMS on the scale. Chemical shift for TMS is taken to be zero.
