Demographics are the quantitative, i.e., mathematical and statistical features of a population occupying a particular region.
Numerous population studies achieve the determination of demographics through various surveys and consequent quantitative analysis. A census survey of a region is one of the primary mediums through which a demography's particular characteristics are learned. A census survey could determine the number of people and their socio-economic status (education, gender, marriage, age, employment, racial and social class, etc.). Further, it could also provide insights into the population movement (migration), reproductive fecundity (birth rates), and death rates. Other targeted surveys are also there that could dive deep into the minute details and interconnections in a population. Thus, demographic information can construct a particular population's growth, descent, stability, and instability patterns. They also provide scientific evidence to create causative relations between different components of the social and ecological environment in which the population resides and interacts.
