How did Roman attitudes toward Christianity change throughout the Roman Empire?
Romans and Christians had different ideologies and ways of serving God. On one hand, Romans were pagans and thus they served so many Gods. So, in Roman government, there was really no separation between State and the Church. In fact they propounded the head of the state as the great follower and messenger of the God. The theory of divine right was a certified fact for them and the position of Emperor which was known as Pontifex Maximus. Paganism made them to believe in different Gods and accept them all over the empire into there options. Their belief towards the almighty was based on the needs and deeds of their ongoing World. Thus, the concept of Salvation and inner peace was somewhat at stake.
Whereas Christians believed in one true God and Jesus being his messenger and only Son. He tried to emancipate and love his followers. His messages gave a soothing sense to everyone and thus people started to convert into Christianity.
