Born around 1500 c, La Malinche was a Nahua woman from the Mexican Gulf Coast. She played an essential role in the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire and was an advisor, interpreter, and intermediary for Herman Cortés, the Spanish conquistador. Later in her life, she also gave birth to Cortés son, Martin, and died before February of 1529.
