How did Jinnah modify the stances of two nation theory?
Before 1947, India and Pakistan were under the British Raj and this brought major changes in the history of both nations. Even though the Indian subcontinent was not conquered or annexed by the British, the indirect rule resulted in severe conflict, especially religious conflicts.
The Divide and Rule policy of the British and the threat of identity created from the perspectives of dominance and subordination pointed to the need for a partition. Religious issues began to emerge in British India. The partition of Bengal and the independence movements also widened the gap between the Muslims and Hindus of the country.
