Sociology has three major sociological perspectives which are used to analyze and interpret society from different angles. The Functionalist perspective began with the work of Emile Durkheim and Talcott Parson. It focuses on the functional nature of society in which all major parts of society work together to bring stability and cooperation to society. The conflict perspective is another such perspective that began with the work of Karl Marx as he pointed out the difference in society when it comes to treating the rich and poor. Symbolic Interactionism is a micro perspective that focuses on the interaction pattern of people in society.
