particularly among the younger generation. Based on studies, the online gaming industry is
expected to expand exponentially in the coming years. While gaming can be considered a hobby
or even a competitive sport, there is still much dispute over its positive and negative effects on
individuals and society, in general.

Mr. Gaben, a high school teacher, recently read research articles discussing the possible effects of playing
online games on numerous aspects of students' lives such as academic performance and health. He decided
to conduct his own investigation by randomly selecting 55 Grade 10 students currently enrolled in their high
school. He collected the data relevant to his investigation. The variables used in the study are described below.
gender – whether the student is male or female
gaming hours – number of hours per week spent by the student on online games
excessive gaming – whether or not the student plays online games for more than 10 hours a week
math – numeric grade in Math
