Transcribed Image Text:For the chemical reaction below, determine the amount of HI produced when 3 gof hydrogen is reacted with 51 g of iodine to produce hydrogen iodide (HI). H2(g) + I2(g) → 2HI(g)
Expert Solution
Step 1

For the reaction.,

H2(g) + I2(g) -----> 2HI(g)

Given Mass of hydrogen = 3g

Molar Mass of hydrogen (H2) = 2.016 g/mol

Moles of hydrogen = 3/2.016 = 1.488 moles

Given Mass of Iodine = 51 g

Molar Mass of Iodine  = 253.8089 g/mol

Moles of iodine (I2) = 51/253.8089 = 0.201 moles
