Expert Solution
Step 1

Intermolecular force is responsible for different physical state, boiling point, melting point, solubility of compounds.

It is mainly of 6 types.

A. Ionic force : it exist in ionic compound.

B. Ion-dipole interaction : it exist between one ion and a molecule having a net dipole moment.

C. H-bonding : it occurs between two (inter-molecular H-bonding) or, one (intramolecular H-bonding) molecule having OH/NH/F/NH2 group.

D. Dipole-dipole interaction : it exist between two molecules having a net dipole moment.

E. Dipole-induced dipole : it exist between molecules one having no net dipole moment and one having dipole moment.

F. London dispersion force : it exist in molecule having no net dipole moment.
