All non-zero numbers are significant (4508 – 4 significant figures)


Zeros between two non-zero digits are significant (40.025 – 5 significant figures)


Leading zeros are NOT significant (480,00 – 2 significant figures)


Trailing zeros to the right of the decimal are significant (8.00 – 3 significant figures)


Trailing zeros in a whole number with the decimal are significant (0.00090 – 2 significant figures)
