Define facework and identify three primary facework strategies.
Facework is the communicative technique used to control one's face and support or undermine another's face. Conflict can be started, managed, or ended via facework. Dominating, avoiding, and integrating facework are the three main facework methods employed in intercultural conflict. Avoiding facework habits emphasizes trying to keep the other person's face intact. Integrating facework promotes conflict resolution by allowing for shared care for one's own and another person's face.
