Supervisors are first-level administrators responsible for managing day-to-day operations and staff. They do not set organizational objectives; instead, they motivate individuals to strive toward the goals of senior management. Because they contact employees daily, they have a beneficial effect on them. They make every effort to minimize intra-organizational friction and to increase employee competitiveness. They place a high premium on personal growth via mentorship and coaching.

In comparison to supervisors, high-level managers have the authority to make critical choices and create organizational goals, whereas supervisors guarantee that their teams function correctly. They are more concerned with the organization's overall functioning than with daily operations. COO, CEO, CFO, and President are all standard titles. They are ultimately accountable for the department's success or failure.
