Explain some OPINION about california : Kumeyaay Native Americans tribes.
Many Native American communities resided in the regions of the Californian state. Especially the Chumash, Serrano, and the Kumeyaay of Southern California. These communities were based on a pastoralist and fishing society, using their small vessels called Tomols to trade goods and use them for transportation across the rivers. These communities encountered the Europeans at very different times. The tribal communities living nearer to the coasts met the Europeans earlier than the tribes living in the interior regions.
Many Spanish missionaries set up their missions here in the California region, which ultimately led to the cultural genocide of Native American communities including the Kumeyaays by converting them to Christianity. Their numbers also declined as these Europeans introduced diseases among the natives and many of them died. Many white settlers wanted their lands after American Independence to discover gold and other resources. Many native American tribes were displaced from their homes, including the Kumeyaay tribes.
