Expert Solution
Step 1

The purpose of creating teams is to bring employees of different skills together to achieve a common goal. Teamwork is the most important aspect of getting success in business as the results of teamwork are much better than an individual working on its own. If a team is playing as one, the skills of different employees can be united and utilized for a common purpose.

However, a team refers to a group of people working together for a common goal, and teamwork refers to the collaborative effort to achieve common goals.

Generally, there are four different types of teams:

  1. Project team: The Project team refers to a group of people having varied skills working on projects. Clear roles will be assigned and employees have to work together till the completion of the project.
  2. Functional Teams: Functional teams refer to a group of people from the same specialization and working permanently in the company.
  3. Cross-Functional Team: Cross-functional teams refer to the group of people from a different area of specialization to work on projects or other plans of the company.
  4. Matrix Teams: Matrix teams refer to those groups of people who have to report to two or more managers.
