The US was struck by one of the severe economic recessions in the 1930s which is dubbed by the phrase the Great Depression. The Great Depression started with the stock market crash of 1928 and persisted throughout the 1930s. The New Deal was a plan offered by Franklin D. Roosevelt which he proposed during the 1932 presidential election campaign which he won.
