Efficiency of the turbine.
this question from turbomachinery course.
just solve part (7+8+9)
You have to design an axial-flow turbine that is used to generate electricity, the required output of the turbine shaft is 3MW, while the turbine may be supplied with a steam having total enthalpy of 3000kJ/kg, at a pressure of 200 bar, an a mass flow rate of 10 kg/s.
The design should result the following:
1. How much energy can be extracted from the fluid mentioned in the question at its best case? (maximum extracted energy)
2. Blade profile (velocity triangles and a perfect sketch)
3. Blade height.
4. Number of blades per cascade.
5. Number of stages.
6. Mean diameter.
7. Rotational speed.
8. Efficiency of the turbine.
9. Available energy of the fluid at the exhaust from the turbine.
10. Check if the difference of enthalpy at the root of the rotor blade is the same as it is at the mean point and at the tip of the blade, if not find a way to make it equal.
Note that you have to calculate many of the previous parameters, while some of them should be chosen, in other words you have to make some decisions, and your decisions should be rational.
