Respiration is a catabolic process in which food material are oxidised and energy released which is stored in the form of ATP and used in different metabolic process. Respiration is just like burning, but burning is uncontrolled process and all the energy lossed while respiration is controlled process and some amount of energy stored in the form of ATP.
Cellular respiration is a complex, multi-step process. It starts with breakdown of glucose molecule, a process called glycolysis. The next step process is called the Krebs cycle, the citric acid cycle or the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle). The Krebs cycle is an aerobic process as it requires oxygen to proceed.
