Draw, label, and describe what is occurring in an EKG. Connect electrical activity to a mechanical action
When blood is circulated through heart to the body, action potentials propagate through the heart, they generate electrical currents that can be detected at the surface of the body. An Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a recording of action potentials produced by the heart muscles during each heartbeat. The instrument which is used to record the changes is called an electrocardiograph. Electrocardiogram help to measure the rhythm and rate of heartbeat, as well as provide indirect evidence of blood flow to the heart muscle. When an EKG is being taken, electrodes placed on skin are connected by wires to an instrument that detects the heart's electrical signals.
