Does prison rehabilitate?
A society is characterized by the rules which its inhabitants follow. This common set of rules also known as laws are those principles that establish harmony in a society. Often there are people in a society who break laws and break the harmony in social life. Such offenders are brought before the law who decide if they have indeed broken the law and then sent to prisons. Prisons are areas of containment in which people disruptive to society are confined.
The term 'rehabilitate' refers to the act of restoring a person back to normalcy. This bringing back to normalcy is used in multiple contexts including that of illness, addiction and or criminal tendency. Often such a bringing back to normalcy is proposed to be brought about by training or therapy.
