The Indian subcontinent, often known as India, is a physiographic area in southern Asia that is located above the tectonic plate i.e. Indian Plate, and extends southwards from the Himalayas into the ocean (Indian). The Indian subcontinent encompasses all or parts of Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, as well as the Maldives from a geopolitical standpoint.
