Question

Discuss the characteristics of the Wenckebach phenomenon seen on ECG?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Second-degree AV (atrioventricular) block is also known as the Wenckebach phenomenon. It is a disorder which is characterized by a progressive prolongation of the PR interval (interval between the onset of atrial depolarization and the next ventricular depolarization). There is the failure of the atrial impulse conduction, no generation of a QRS complex, and hence no generation of ventricular contraction.
