Oogenesis
The formation of the ovum (mature female gamete) from undifferentiated germ cells is called oogenesis. This process takes place in the ovaries (female gonads). Oogenesis consists of three stages known as the multiplication phase, growth phase, and maturation phase.

Meiosis
Meiosis is sometimes called the reductive cell division. In meiosis, dna replication is completed in two rounds of cell division. The first round of division is called meiosis 1, which produces two intermediate daughter cells. The second round of division is called the meiosis 11 , which results in four genetically distinct haploid gametes.
