Design procedure of column design criteria. Explain it
Expert Solution
Step 1
Column is a compression member which can resist compressive loads. Its effective length is greater than 3 times the least dimension of the member .i.e., (leff /b)>3
Column is classified on the basis of :
1.Material
2.Position
3.Shape
4.Loading condition
5.Transverse steel
6.Slenderness Ratio
There are Various Provisions Which needs to be followed are min. cover of 40mm Min. steel of 0.8% of gross c/s Area and max. steel of 6% of bD. Max. diameter of steel of 12mm to avoid buckling. Min no. of bars of square is 4, Rectangular is 4 and Circular is 6.Spacing of longitudinal bar not less than 300mm.
