Describe two properties of water which makes it essential to life as we know it. You need to name the property and describe how the structure of the water molecule allows for these unique characteristics.

Expert Solution
Step 1

The two important properties of that is essential to life are;

1)POLARNATUREOFWATER: Water contain 2 H-atoms and 1 O-atom. O being more electronegative, attracts the share pair of electron towards itself. Due to this O-atom becomes slightly negative while both H-atom becomes slightly positive.Thus, the negative and positive centres in H2O molecules are separated. This causes the polar nature of water molecule.Due to this polar nature of water molecule it is an excellent solvent and is able to dissolve a very large amount of compound, mineral, vitamines etc. Which are then carried into different parts of body in animals, humans  and even in plants.furthermore, living organism have  more than 60%-70% of water their body, which helps them in transportation of food to cell in dissolved form  in water.Also blood and body fluids have more than 90% of water in it,  which makes their flow easly and increases their carrying capablity.All this is bossible due to Polar  nature of  water, due to which it have very high solublity
