Question
Describe the Relating Soil Conditions and Foundation Types.
Expert Solution
Step 1 Introduction:-
Foundations are the structural members that transfer the load from the superstructure to the soil. Based, on soil conditions different types of foundations are used. Foundation take the entire load of structure hence they need to be very strong in design and also, it should be able to transfer all the loads equally to the soil without stress concentration. If the soil doesn’t have enough bearing capacity it may lead to settlement and cracks of foundation thus collapsing the structure. Hence, these soil conditions and foundation type is interrelated and go hand in hand.
