Question
Describe the types of deep foundations.
Expert Solution
Step 1
In conditions where soil at shallow depth is not adequate or poor, in-order to transfer the load safely, the foundation depth has to be increased up-to the suitable soil strata is met. In-view of increased depth of foundation, such types of foundations are known as Deep foundation, pile foundation, well foundation and Deep foundations.
Pile are small diameter shaft that can be installed or driven into ground, whereas well and Piers Foundation are large diameter shafts, constructed by the excavation and sunk up-to the depth required.
