Question
Describe the procedure of he constant-rate-of-penetration test.
Expert Solution
Step 1
The Constant Rate of Penetration Test is used for testing of piles to arrive at the failure load, by application of load at constant rate of downward movement of piles. The failure point or failure load of the pile is that load at which the pile continues to move downward without any increase in applied load or that load at which the penetration of pile reaches a value equal to one-tenth of the pile base diameter.
