Describe the conditions present on Earth at the time of its early second atmosphere. What chemicals and energy sources were present? What chemical in particular was absent? Can you speculate about what conditions would be like on Earth today if meiosis, crossing-over, and sexual reproduction had never evolved?

The earth atmosphere is composed of layers of gases which is commonly known as air and is retained by earth's gravity , surrounding the earth and forming the planetary atmosphere. By volume it air contains 78% of nitrogen, 21% of oxygen and 0.04% of carbon dioxide and many other small gases.
The earth atmosphere also comprises variable amount of water vapor which is 1% at sea level and 0.4% of entire atmosphere. The physical components like air composition, temperature, atmospheric pressure varies with altitude and the air which is suitable for plants for their photosynthesis process and animals for breathing is only found in the earth's troposphere.
