Describe the advantages of a two- group design compared to an experiment with more than two groups. Then describe the advantages of a multiple-group design compared to an experiment with only two groups.
Expert Solution
Step 1

A two group design is the one in which the participants are divided into two groups out of which one group is the control group- those who don't get any treatment, and the other group is the experimental group- those who get the treatment. The results are then compared between the two groups.

A two group design has the following advantages over a multiple group design:

  • Requires less number of participants.
  • Doesn't take a lot of time.
  • Is cost effective.
  • Minimize the random noise, that is, the chances of a real difference between the conditions going undetected are less in a two group design.
  • Treatments can be easily controlled and independent variable of interest are studied and compared with ease.
