Describe how intra-AS routing is accomplished. Give example routing protocols and indicate whether they are LS or DV.
Describe how intra-AS routing is accomplished. Give example routing protocols and indicate whether they are LS or DV.
The protocols which are utilized within the AS are called Intra-AS routing protocols. It is utilized to configure and manage the routing tables within the AS.
Each intra-AS routing protocol builds routes to be utilized within its domain and stores them in the form of routing tables in every router in the domain. Some routers known as boundary routers can belong to various ASs and these routers may then perform multiple routing protocols. Boundary routers generally consist of various routing tables, one for each domain they belong to. All these routing tables are combined into the single IP forwarding table, which is managed by the IP within the network layer. When the packet reaches at the router for the transmission to a particular destination, IP looks up the IP forwarding table for that destination to decide the outgoing interface to which the packet will be allotted for the transmission
