Describe about the slab–buttress structure.
- In slab buttress structure, a slab in the form of deck is provided which get support from the corbels of buttresses.
- This type of structure is constructed to smaller heights of 20 to 50 meters.
- The slab inclined at 40 to 45 degrees is provided is to stabilize the dam and to support the load of stored reservoir water and prevent it from sliding due to self-weight of dam.
- Two adjacent buttresses on each deck slab unit acts as single independent unit due to which other unit remain unaffected if one unit get damaged.
- The Design procedure for deck slab buttress dam structure is same as gravity dam structure.
- Types of slab buttress structure are ;
1- Fixed deck slab
2- Free deck slab
3- Cantilever type deck slab
