Consider an animal with genotype F/f. The possible gametes produced by this individual may be ½ F and ½ f. Choose the correct answer below. The explanation for the possible gametes produced is Mendel’s first law, of equal segregation. The explanation for the possible gametes produced is Mendel’s second law, of independent assortment. The explanation for the possible gametes produced is BOTH Mendel’s first law, of equal segregation AND Mendel’s second law, of independent assortment. The explanation for the possible gametes produced is NEITHER Mendel’s first law, of equal segregation NOR Mendel’s second law, of independent assortment.

The cells are the basic biological structural and functional units of life. These cells of the body are responsible for carrying out all the functions essential for survival such as producing energy, carrying out metabolic reactions, and facilitating growth and development of the body. There are many different types of cells in the body which form various tissues of the human body. The cells which perform similar kinds of functions are involved in the tissue formation. These tissues then come together to give rise to various organs. The genome of an organism represents all the genetic information contained within the cells. This information tells the cells about their tasks and what functions are to be performed by them.

In humans, the genetic information present in the cell is in the form of the Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid (DNA). This genetic information is present within the nucleus of the cell and is inherited from the parents. The DNA sequences can be categorized as coding and non-coding regions of the DNA. The coding regions of the DNA are called the genes which are translated and transcribed to form proteins. The non coding region does not encode for the proteins, it rather helps in maintaining the integrity of the genome. The proteins encoded by the genes are ultimately the structural and functional molecules which execute all the cellular functions essential for existence.
