Compare these two perspectives and state their major similarities and differences.                                                         Latour’s Actor Network VS Hughes’s Technological System

Expert Solution
Step 1

Latour's Actor Network: The importance of actors, or "actants," in the creation of reality is emphasized by Latour's Actor Network Theory, a sociological theory. Actors might be human or non-human, and networks of relationships connect them to one another. These networks are dynamic and are shaped by the behaviors of the individuals who participate in them.

Hughes's Technological System.: Hughes employed a system of guidelines and procedures known as The Technological System to run his enterprises and investments. It is predicated on the notion that technology may be employed to raise effectiveness and add worth.

Similarities.

They both see technology as a series of interconnected networks. Technology is viewed as a collection of interconnected networks in Hughes' Technological System and Latour's Actor Network since it is composed of numerous diverse components that all function together.

Both theories are concerned with how technologies shape society and how humans interact with technologies. Latour and Hughes' respective theories present a non-reductionist, sociological approach to thinking about technology. Both of them see technology as a multifaceted system with many moving pieces. These components are subsystems for Hughes whereas they are actors for Latour. According to these ideas, technology is something that people develop and then it has a life of its own, impacting how people interact with it.
