Oogenesis
The formation of the ovum (mature female gamete) from undifferentiated germ cells is called oogenesis. This process takes place in the ovaries (female gonads). Oogenesis consists of three stages known as the multiplication phase, growth phase, and maturation phase.
Cell Division
Cell division involves the formation of new daughter cells from the parent cells. It is a part of the cell cycle that takes place in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms. Cell division is required for three main reasons:

Cell and Molecular Biology
• Taxol - Originally produced from a natural
substance in a tree (Pacific yew). Used for
ovarian cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer,
and others. Inhibits mitotic spindles so they
cannot line up the chromosomes.
• Adrucil - Used to treat many cancers,
including those of the colon, stomach,
pancreas, breast, and cervix. It acts by
preventing DNA synthesis in cells, so they
cannot replicate their DNA.
• Talazoparib - A chemical under research for
use in advanced breast cancer. One possible
impact of this drug on cells is mis-segregation
of chromosomes (linked-up copies of
duplicated chromosomes do not split and
move to separate new cells as they should).
• Cytochalasin B - A chemical that has been
proposed to treat various cancers but is not
yet well researched. Acts by preventing the
creation of a cleavage furrow so that the
original cell cannot split itself in two.
